Strategic Plan

The roadmap to end impaired driving

The NASID 2025-2027 Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap for guiding the organization’s priorities and activities.

These goals were developed through input from NASID membership and reflect the collective expertise and commitment of members to advancing traffic safety. NASID members meet regularly to ensure these priorities remain current and responsive to the evolving trends and remain responsive to the dynamics of the traffic safety community.

Recent member discussions have highlighted several key themes:

Prioritizing multiple-substance impaired driving

Addressing data challenges and gaps

Advancing roadside testing through field sobriety tests and emerging technologies

Expanding toxicology testing and laboratory capacity

Educating policymakers and other key stakeholders about multiple-substance impaired driving

Strengthening and supporting impaired driving enforcement

Together, through collaboration and a commitment to continuous improvement, NASID members ensure these priorities drive meaningful progress in reducing impaired driving and enhancing traffic safety nationwide.
